Cetirizine Hydrochloride

For adults and children 6 years and older, take 1 tablet per day or as directed by doctor.

There was no additional benefit seen in increasing dose of Cetirizine Hydrochloride to 20 mg.

For patients with hepatic and renal impairment, the dose should be reduced to half their usual dose per day.

In managing seasonal rhinitis, it is recommended that cetirizine hydrochloride be given at the beginning of hay fever season when pollens are still few.

Cetirizine Hydrochloride Benadryl® One may be administered with or without food as it will not affect absorption of the drug.

Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.

Benadryl® One is used for the symptomatic relief of allergic conditions including rhinitis and chronic urticaria.

Undesirable Effects

Undesirable effects with Cetirizine Hydrochloride are rare, dose-related, and are usually temporary and mild in severity. Associated undesirable effects include irritability, insomnia, drowsiness, fatigue, dry mouth, pharyngitis, dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, cough, diarrhea, epistaxis, bronchospasm, nausea, vomiting, and hypersensitivity manifested by urticaria and fixed drug eruptions.

Contradictions

Cetirizine Hydrchloride is contraindicated to those who are allergic to Cetirizine Hydroxide, or any component of the formulation. Cetirizine Hydrchloride is not recommended to be given to hypokalemic patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. It should not be given to children with hepatic and renal impairment, who are younger than 6 years of age.
